Fees as published by Etsy (listing $0.20, transaction 6.5%, payment processing by country, Offsite Ads 15%/12% capped at $100). Sales tax collected by Etsy isn't included. Always check Etsy's current fee policy for your country.

Every Etsy fee, explained

Listing fee — $0.20. Charged when you publish a listing and again each time it renews (every four months, or after a sale when you have more stock).

Transaction fee — 6.5%. Charged on the total the buyer pays for the item, including the shipping and gift wrap you charge.

Payment processing. Etsy Payments charges a percentage plus a fixed amount per order, depending on the country of your bank account — 3% + $0.25 in the US.

Offsite Ads — 15% or 12%. Only on orders that came from an Etsy ad on another website, capped at $100 per order.

Currency conversion — 2.5%. Only when your listings are priced in a different currency from your bank account.

How to keep more of every sale

  • Price shipping into the item cost when you offer free shipping — the transaction fee is the same either way, but buyers prefer free shipping.
  • List in your bank's currency to avoid the 2.5% conversion fee.
  • Bundle low-priced items: the fixed $0.20 listing and $0.25 processing fees hurt most on cheap orders.
  • Check your price against the market with RankBuddy's Etsy Competitor Research before you lower it.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Etsy take per sale?

On a typical US sale Etsy takes a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee on the item price plus shipping and gift wrap, and payment processing of 3% + $0.25. That's usually 10-15% of the order, or more when the sale came from an Offsite Ad.

Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?

Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee and the payment processing fee both apply to the shipping you charge the buyer, not just the item price.

What are Offsite Ads fees?

When a sale comes from Etsy's ads on other sites, Etsy charges 15% of the order (12% for shops that made over $10,000 in the past year), capped at $100 per order. Shops under $10,000 can opt out.

Are digital downloads charged the same fees?

Yes — the listing, transaction and payment processing fees are the same. There's just no shipping, so switch the calculator to 'Digital download'.

What is the regulatory operating fee?

Sellers in some countries (for example the UK and France) pay a small extra percentage that Etsy charges to cover local regulations. Enter your country's rate if it applies to you, or leave it at 0.

How do I price my Etsy products for profit?

Enter your costs and the margin you want; the calculator works out the exact price that covers every fee and leaves that profit. Then check what competitors charge — RankBuddy's Competitor Research shows the price band top listings sell in.
